If you are not seeing your edits appear on the front end (your published website), go back to Joomla (backend) and clean your cache - a small icon at the bottom of the page, then refresh the page on the front end.
If that doesn't work you can try clearing your browser's cache, for example in Chrome: in the menu click Chrome > Clear Browsing Data, and in the window that pops up select "Cached Images and Files". The steps in other browsers are pretty similar.
