With the challenges, changes, and growth we’ve seen in the world in the last six months we’ve been inspired to push just a bit more to contribute to our community. With that in mind, we are pleased to announce two winners of our 2020 Design for Good Community Grant.
We received a record number of grant applications this year, 24 in all, from a wide variety of incredible organizations. Narrowing it down was a difficult task, and in the end our team decided we couldn’t just pick one. Our winning grantees both provide extremely valuable services to those in need and are exceedingly important to their audiences during this pandemic: Fit to Recover and South Valley Services. We are excited to work with them on their Design for Good projects!
Fit to Recover takes a holistic approach to supporting individuals in their sobriety. Their mission is founded on four pillars — Nutrition, Community Service, Creative Arts, and Fitness. During our interview with Fit to Recover’s founder, Ian Acker, we were inspired by his passion and openness as he shared his personal journey with recovery and building this organization from scratch. He stressed the importance keeping those in recovery from isolation at this critical time. We are happy to refresh their website to highlight their unique four-pillared approach, and let their positivity and passion shine and inspire.
South Valley Services works to provide shelter, advocacy, case management, and prevention services to families and individuals impacted by domestic violence. Their work is vital at any time, but even more so now, with the pandemic challenging their ability to hold classes in safe public spaces like libraries, and with economic stress and isolation further endangering vulnerable individuals. Their shelter and hotline are open and taking calls and clients, and they’re working remotely to help as much as possible. We hope a new website and branding will help them reach those who need support and safety.
We are excited to dive in and get going on these projects, we know for both of them time is of the essence, and a useful and informative website can make all the difference in aiding connection in these disconnected times. Stay tuned this fall for the results!
