It's [Marketing] Campaign Season for Third Sun

We love branding and design. We love creating websites. But every once in a while, it’s nice to take on the challenge of a larger-scale project. Beginning last fall, Third Sun began working on a campaign to recruit machinist apprentices for the Northern Utah chapter of the National Tooling and Machining Association (NUNTMA).

Machining has become an increasingly high-tech and well-paying career, but getting that message to a younger workforce has been a challenge for the industry. NUNTMA retained us to launch a comprehensive marketing campaign that included developing all the creative materials for online and social media, print collateral, and billboard and transit advertising.

Third Sun’s Michael Yount served his usual role as Creative Director. But for a project this size, we assembled a team of trusted partners: David Newkirk for photography, Bert Estrada for video and Bombshell Media for advertising and portions of the content. Internally, we developed the brand, crafted taglines, drafted and refined supporting content and developed the accompanying website, machineutah.org.

The result: A measurable and successful ongoing campaign. Keep your eyes and ears open for transit ads, billboards, open houses and radio spots. Or, simply check out machineutah.org. Our goal was to garner 300 applications to fill around 30 apprenticeship positions. We are at 500 applications and counting with several weeks still remaining.
